Meet The Team

Martin Connolly

Co-Founder & Instructor

Martin started diving in the 1990's,  exploring the cooler waters  of New Zealand's South Island, where he grew-up..

After leaving school and working as an engineer he realised that his true passion lay in teaching, so decided to leave the workshop behind and combine his love of teaching, with that of scuba diving.

Since then, life as a dive professional has taken Martin all over the world, from the pristine reefs of the coral triangle in Asia, to ice diving in Switzerland; though the majority of his scuba diving career has been spent in the Mediterranean, Thailand, and of course The Great Barrier Reef!

Apart from visiting new places, Martin enjoys meeting people from all over the world and has a real ear for languages.

For more than a decade, Martin has spoken fluent Spanish, and his Catalan isn't bad either!.

He's not shy when it comes to practicing his  German, French and Italian as well.

When guiding certified divers or teaching students on our PADI courses, Martin is able to call on a wealth of experience and training obtained over the years; while he also loves to share his knowledge of the reef and the creatures that dwell there.

With his mechanical background, Martin is also our fully qualified equipment technician, making sure that all of our gear receives plenty of TLC.

(See a full list of Martin's qualifications HERE)

When not diving or working, Martin spends his time with his partner Louise, and their young daughter. He is also holding-out slim hope for the chance to rekindle some previous interests and activities, especially rockclimbing and mountain biking.

Louise Gill

Co-Founder & Administration

Originally from the UK, Louise discovered the wonder of scuba diving while travelling through Australia more than 15 years ago. This included a visit to the Great Barrier Reef, from which she never looked-back.

Once qualified as a dive professional, Louise worked first as a guide, before taking up dive centre management positions. This has been in a number of exotic locations, including Thailand which she called home for a number of yeas, and the megafauna hotspots of Mozambique and The Philippines.

With a keen eye for detail, Lou is always on-hand to make sure that the cogs are turning smoothly, and beyond helping our guests organise their dive trips or courses; she is also happy to assist with advice or arrangements for accommodation or other tours in the region.

Outside of diving, Louise has undertaken some amazing travels, from trekking to Everest Base camp; sailing the remote waters of Indonesia, and going on safari in South Africa's Kruger national park.

While Lou is often found holding the fort on land, she loves the chance to get-out and dive whenever possible, especially when the water starts to warm-up during October and November; with her favourite local dive site being 'Blue Buoy' at Opal Reef, which is a real hot spot for some of Lou's preferred critters such as nudibranchs and other bizarre specimens that can be found there.
